POST-OP INSTRUCTIONS
Dental Fillings

Diet
-
If possible, avoid chewing on the treated tooth for 2–4 hours.
-
For composite (tooth-colored) fillings, you can usually resume normal eating immediately; use proper discretion.
-
Avoid sticky candies and extremely hard foods for a few days.

Sensitivity
-
Mild sensitivity to hot, cold, or pressure is normal for a few days.
-
Sensitivity usually improves within 1–2 weeks.
-
Using toothpaste for sensitive teeth can help reduce discomfort.

Pain & Discomfort
-
Over-the-counter pain relievers, ask the doctor if unsure.
-
If you experience severe or prolonged pain, contact your dentist.

Oral Hygiene
-
Brush and floss gently around the filled tooth.
-
Maintain regular oral hygiene to prevent future decay.
Caution: Your mouth may remain numb for a few hours after your appointment. Please avoid chewing until the numbness has completely worn off to prevent accidentally biting your cheek, tongue, or lip.
Please contact our office if you notice the bite feels uneven, or if the filling feels high or rough. Watch for signs of complications such as persistent pain, swelling, or infection.
